July11th Leavenworth, WA - Selah...89...4,409

Day 4 started with a 24 mile climb. We were the last people to leave the hotel. I was actually a little nervous that we were so far back. Very quickly on the road we started passing riders. We rode Jeanne up towards the front of the 40 rider group and ended up dropping her before the first stop at 17 miles. After this stop the road got steeper and was an amazing abandoned road. I have never biked on something so cool. The surface was in pretty good condition but there were rock slides on the road that had not been cleaned up in years. Aaron and I went hard from this stop to the top. By the top we had passed everyone and we sprinted for the KOM points. I pulled away with a few hundred meters to go. It was a blast. The downhill was just as amazing on this quiet, twisty road. We regrouped with Jeanne and rode downhill for a long time. There was a final 1000 foot climb in the middle of the day. I decided to stand the entire length in my big ring. I felt great. The rest of the day was a slight downhill along a large river. The heat became an issue again with temps over 100. In the sun we were getting readings of 120. My computer never went below 100 and said 113 which I have never seen before. We finished at a nice new hotel in Selah Washington. The hotel is called a lodge but is really just a fancy Holiday Inn. Aaron and I walked a mile to the number one restaurant on Trip Advisor, Kings Place. It was a small burger joint that did have cheap good food. We met the owner who was interested in our story. We congratulated her on her number one rating. No Tour coverage tonight on the TV. Tomorrow is another short <100 mile day. The temps are also going to drop with the high tomorrow of 80. My leg muscles are painful to touch. Jeanne is having saddle issues. Aaron doesn't seem to complain about anything but he is happy to have no gall bladder issues even though he is eating more fat
