I also hiked Mt. Kenya one weekend with Christian, a friend of mine from Germany.
Rising more than 17,000 feet above sea level on the equator, this mountain featured
five distinct vegetation zones and thirteen unique plant species.
We drove for three hours from Nairobi before reaching the Naro Maro River Lodge. It was here that we hired guides and porters for our ascent. Then we headed due east on the Naro Maro road, driving toward a mountain hidden by clouds.
