October 22: Oops

12noon

Well, that didn't take too long. I have only been able to write a daily journal a few times in my life. Generally it turns into this weekly update where I really don't have time to write everything down. It is ironic too, that the busy times are when the exciting things happen. However, this is when one has the least amount of time to write things down. Anyway...

My other excuse for not writing is that my wrist is killing me. I am not sure if it is from typing or not, but typing a lot definitely aggravates the pain. I have tried to change my typing style (for instance using the left hand for the shift key now and then), but it still hurts. I don't think it will get better unless I just stop typing and that is hard to do with everything going on.

I have survived a couple hard exams and many more interviews. By the end of the week I will be up to fifteen interviews in four weeks. I am taking a break from on-campus interviews for a while. I have pretty much talked to all of the companies that I am interested in (except Disney which doesn't come to Illinois-damn them), so now I can just wait for the letter or phone call. So far I have about three letters and three phone calls. I am going out to see Deloitte and Touche next week in Milwaukee. Then there is EDS in Dallas (no, I would not work in Texas, that is just where the head office is located). Then Quaker in Chicago. They are all totally different jobs in totally different places. It would be a tough decision if they all made me offers. I am still waiting to hear from a lot of companies that I interviewed with lately. Anyway, things are looking all right. I hope it won't be too much longer.

I haven't talked to Brica in a while. I haven't responded to her latest email yet. I feel like I really don't have anything to say. She is getting on with her life. I am busy with life as a super senior. Perhaps we will meet again.

I met a cool girl at the Japanese conversation table recently. We talk about lots of stuff about Japan/US problems, etc. We have similar interests somehow. It is always fun to have a bilingual friend, although her English is much better than my Japanese. I invited her over to make Japanese food last night. It was lots of fun, and the food even turned out pretty good. I don't know what to make of the relationship yet, but it is kind of fun to be single and just play around. It is kinda scarry, though, that her name is Miho. She even looks a little like the old Miho. Hmmm...

Cecily and I went to see Seven Years in Tibet the other night. It was cool. Neither of us had time to go to movies, but we both love the mountain climbing and we love the Brad Pitt. It was really a good movie. It reminded me of some of the stuff in Nepal. I really beautiful part of the world. Unfortunately it was taken over by the big people just like Hawaii, Africa, Southeast Asia, et al. My brother thinks it is funny that everyone wants to FREE TIBET! now, but it really is a sad story. Anyway...

Am also reading Into Thin Air about the fatal climb of Mt. Everest last year. It is interesting to read about some of the places that we went in Nepal. We got to meet Guy Cotter, the successor of Rob Hall who led the fatal expedition. Anyway, I plan to carry that book around with me as I interview next week. Hopefully, I can write again before then, though.
