As expected, I haven't made good use of my free time this week. I finally had a chance to catch up on all those classes that I missed, but instead I took a couple naps. Went out to the local super grocery store type place and blew over a hundred bucks on cereal, vegetables, and assorted items that I really don't need. Went to see a movie tonight.
Traci and I went to "Shall We Dance," a Japanese flick that just happened to be playing at the local Co-ed Cinema. It was a lot of fun. I should watch more Japanese films. Sometimes I ask Japanese friends what Japanese movies are good and they don't know. They only watch "Independence Day" and other Hollywood movies. Anyway, it is a lot of fun to try to understand the Japanese. It helps when there are subtitles, but I do all right. The movies remind me of Japan too. Things that you can't see in America: people riding their bikes to work; people eating ramen at the local Chinese restaurant for lunch; high school kids in uniforms, etc.
I don't know why, but it is just fun to learn about Japan. I don't know if it is the challenge of the language. Or the difference in the culture. Or the elusiveness of the business success. Or the women that I am attracted to. It is just fun. I was worried about forgetting Japanese when I first came home, but lately I use it a lot. Traci and I talk in Japanese more than half of the time. We both have the same interest in the language and lifestyle. I don't know if we need a reason. It is just fun...
But my exams are not so fun. I have yet another one tomorrow as the second round of midterms is coming around. I am avoiding a ton of studying. It is fun to challenge the mind by not over-preparing for an exam. It is also a lazy answer to the problem of skipping too many questions. We'll see how it goes.
I should hear from a couple more companies with either offers or rejection letters by the end of the week. The whole thing just makes me less motivated to study. I will soon have a job. I am thinking I wanna take the non-accounting job so I don't have to bother with the CPA exam in the spring. We will see.
