October 30: TGIF?

Every Friday at work we make some what of a joke about going home early. I guess the original plan for this client was to work about nine hours during the week and then take an early Friday. But things never work out that way. Well, today, I was supposed to be the poster boy, and actually take off early. I wanted to get out by four so that I could get to the car dealer to have some routine service on my car. I did make it out before four, but I didn't get there until well after five.

The traffic is especially sucky on Fridays. Everybody seems to get the bright idea of leaving early and taking off out of town or something. I think this is the case in a lot of cities of the world. Everyone tries to escape for the weekend, but they are trapped. I have decided that it is actually better to work late on Friday. TGIF, eh?

Things are going all right at work though. I have been working on a couple projects on my own lately. I almost like it better that way. I guess I was kinda lying when I told the company about how much of a "team player" I am. Anyway, one of the executives at the candy company decided to call a big meeting for Monday. I will debrief everyone on my investigation of this one process and then make recommendations. It has got me a little stressed out because none of these people seem to like me. They don't want to be told that they are doing their jobs wrong.

Such is the scam of consulting. Who ever thought that a group of young kids could solve the problems of some old screwed up company? We have fun trying, but there is resistance from lots of corners.

Went out for a couple more movies this week. Trying to enjoy my new evening and weekend freedom, but somehow things are working right. On top of that, things are going well with the girlfriend. I was planning to go visit her in Tokyo, but communication has not been good lately. I have to give her a call.
