I got about 10 minutes of sunshine today. First time during lunch hours, as the weather has been crappy, and I've not had the opportunity to really eat outside of this "building." Gareth, for those who remember, we did our usual izakaya scene and did our usual 4 hour Murakami and etc talk over several rounds of beer. Some things never change. It's sort of strange to find myself talking about Murakami again. Other friends seem to remember most as the "Murakami" guy... for obvious reasons I suppose... and conversations launch from there. Tangents galore, but we (whoever I end up talking to) end up talking about the last scene in the novel, Norwegian Wood. In the phone box, looking around in wonder... where am I calling from? This is so true. I catch myself thinking this IS Tokyo sometimes, and I am reassured of this fact when I talk Japanese again. A very strange idea that I never got out of from my trip. Anyhow, my best regards to everyone. Euge
