January 10: A Postcard from Nowhere

Nonetheless, life carries on. I must say, this 1999 is the worst start that I've ever had in my entire life. My job gets whackier. I've had the worst cold I've had in my life. And more which I care not to even explain. It just might be time that I actually write my own book of wallows (though I won't).

So I'm back to more meditative writings.

There's a strange tingling excitement to think that these thoughts are spread around the world for greater distribution. I wish I could say that there's actually substance, but that's -- I guess -- another issue. Simply put, it's an author's -- or writer's -- ego to be read and widespread. There is a gross psychology to this, as being read is an open invitation and -- I suppose -- a challenge to be de-coded. Whether this is justifiable reason to be... or not to be... coded is a separate issue -- but going back to Heidegger -- the complete ajustification -- or the simple act of being -- is reason to be... QED

Well, this is really going nowhere. Despite the QED.

---------

I saw Masa and Yoko today for a Shin-nenkai. Yakiniku, Billiards, and Shabu shabu. QED. (hah!)

I'm loving this QED-bit. (Though it's very obnoxious -- it stands for "Quite Easily Done," and it's a philosophical (or more precisely, logic) period mark indicating an elegant conclusion to a difficult issue with finesse.

Back to Masa and Yoko... Hmm... I don't know. QED. There's no elaboration other the fact that we ordered a bottle of wine with shabu shabu and had a ball of a time at our old hangout in Waseda (or Baba). Subarashiki nakama-tachi ni kampai.

-------

You never know who you'll run into. I accidetnally ran into an old Berkeley friend -- who I didn't even know was back in town at Shibuya. He's leaving Thursday, but it's good reminicing over some old times. I guess not more can be said here either... other than the fact that times past are not times lost. Of course, that place with the same crowd at that same time can never be replayed, but can be reconstructed... and its original momentum still remains... good or bad is not really the issue, but waga haruka naru berkeley... to iu koto kana?

Hmm... this is really crappy stuff. This is more like a postcard -- reminder -- to myself, but please excuse this mess, and I will surely be back for more..
