January 19: The Corporate TRAP

It's great to catch up with a lot of old friends and acquaintances as of late. I feel as though I am making random encounters with my past... as it seems to weave itself into the present. It's quite understandable, as I came back to Japan to LIVE for a short while... and going back to Waseda on a rather consistent basis... it's quite inevitable to recollect. It's getting easy to mistake my presence in the past.

Anyhow, reality is less pleasant. I apologize, as I know I haven't replied to a number of you whom I promised. I've "healed" from my cold... but as my work has taken high gear in the pre-recruiting season... I'm back to pulling midnighters, as I just did coming home at 12:30AM. This is just not happy.

First, Kory, I've had no chance to call Toshima-ku. I go into work in a half-dream, and come out pumped up from the adrenalin rush picking up telephones fro managing directors and partners of the firm. None of my colleagues are happy, and we've got three VP-class heavy weights from New York and Hong Kong to oversee the restructuring of the department. The other day, the president of our Tokyo office (now 840+ employees) came in to talk to us one on one for our input. At this point, I've no fears... as I've done all my complaining to say that upper management sucks and you've failed to make us happy campers. (well, something in that regard)

Whatever the case... "confusion" and "chaos" seems to best describe my Tokyo life as to date.

Carrying on... I'll be going to Kyoto for recruiting events on 2/13,2/20, and 4/3. They're all on Saturdays, and I have the choice to take half day off Friday and lounge in corporate lodging for those three weekends. Pretty wacky eh?

However, I'm still eyeing early July for Indonesia with Aaron, a home leave to the states (maybe) in October/November... and another week's vacation to wherever. I'm determined to use up all my vacation time THIS YEAR.

I still have Lonon and Hong Kong pending for a conference this year... along with a month-long training in New York sometime. As you can see... I am DREAMING to get away from Tokyo... at least for a short while.

Masa and I (with his bunch) hit the old scene... Acaraje again. Masa did Verrfarre, and I somehow couldn't make it. Clubbing is rather different these days... and there's new places/events popping up. Masa! Are we up for another one in a few weeks?

Well, a lot of varying thoughts as of late... but they seem to be recurring topics. Hmm... I guess I feel like I'm everywhere but here. Nothing new eh?

talk to you all later,
Euge
