January 26: time after time

Well, time takes on a wacky passage, and as I physically seclude myself from the presence of others... I am becoming in better contact with good friends. As you've noticed, work is hell, and I'm easily working 13 hours a day. I've been working at least 15, and this is going to last a while longer. It takes only moments to put this in perspective, but when I saw the clock was ALREADY 10 PM and haven't had dinner, I knew this was deeper doo doo.

That seems to be matters in a nutshell. Corporate America is only an idealist model in this country, and well, whether good or bad is a matter of perspective, but this new order really shines a different light. I guess non-American nations face this issue, and the notion of "border-less" or "global" is a self-serving concept that promotes a single interest... that is... the frame of referce is decidedly from one perspective.

It's a clear dividing line of haves and have nots, and a centralization of "power." "Entertainment" is product that basically serves the affluent -- as it's a privilage available to those in that frame of reference. Japan -- to be evil for the sake of evil - is definitively naive, as power is held in the hands of the people where progression is less an issue/intrinsic drive to penetrate into the center of power. In essence of Japanese culture... I believe the Japanese value their peripheral existence... and power is murked in its peripheral existence. Thus, the allure of Japan lies in one's ability to entertain peripherality...

So, what is power? Foucoult defined power as an essence which one lives... rather than placing it as a possessive element to have. I sincerely wonder about what "living" it means... but if you don't have it... you're surely not living it... to take the converse, and if you have it... then you're not necessarily living it. So Aaron -- to skirt the issue a bit -- if I'm living... I'm being... but if I'm just being... what does that make me?

whatever the case, reduction into tangible forms is not appropriate to begin with. So I leave it there.

Hope you had a great Aussie day, and I'm going to meditate in my sleep.

ta,
Euge
