Bob Boroff and I hike for 4 hours up to Williams Lakes by Copper Mtn. What a gorgeous hike and quite easy. I ride up to Copper for a Health Fair but it is over. So I sit and eat a couple hermit cookies at the base of the ski lift. This is the life! If this is retirement?I love it!

Bob Boroff and I mountain bike on the road up Boreas Pass by Breckenridge (6.5 miles) Then we ride down the road for half of it and on a single-track for the remainder. I rode most of the trail until close to the bottom where it was quite steep with rocks, trees and cliffs. It was a lot of fun, but I still prefer road riding. I just feel so much safer. Hopefully I will get more comfortable with mountain biking if I get more experience at it.

Jack and I enjoy a great bike ride over at Glenwood Canyon. We can only ride to Grizzly Bear rest area as the rest of the trail is closed for the season. We ride into a strong head wind going but it pushes us back so we accept that. The colors of the trees turning is just beautiful in the canyon.

We are off to Denver after lunch to pick up another speaker for Michael. The good part of it is that we get to have ggoodh coffee and have pizza at Beau Jofs.

We leave for Illinois. We get to my Aunt Bette Brockmanfs in the late afternoon in Hastings NE. She has surprised us by inviting several of my relatives to go out to eat with us. So Breverly and Dale Mousel, James and Laurayne Streff, Nick and Wuanita Streff, Marie Hoffman, Bette Brockman, Jerry and Theresa Streff and Leo and Aggie Billesbach all go out to eat with us at Bernardos. What a surprise and treat!! Jack goes to bed when we get home at 9:30pm, but Aunt Bette and I stay up and talk till midnight. Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital (where I was born) bought Aunt Bettefs house and bulldozed it down on September 2. She is renting a house from them for $200/month with a 5-year contract. She works for them 4 hours 5 days a week. She received the honor of gemployee of the quarterh from them today. She should be most proud.

We bid Aunt Bette good-bye and head for Illinois. We stop for breakfast at Cinnabun on I-80. What a treat! I spend a good deal of the day trying to learn our new digital camera. I think I am too old for all this gelectronic age!h We visit Jackfs mom. She is much worse with trying to hold her head up. She is eating supper when we arrive and she can hardly see what she is eating. Jack stood in front of her as she tried to find her chair by the door, and she finally tried to raise her head with her hand to see who was standing in front of her. The doctors donft know what the cause is. She is to go to her neurologist on October 2. We go to Schooners and enjoy supper and drink three beers. We then head for Jo Whilefs where we will spend the night. We sit and talk to Jo and Tom till midnight.

Tom, Jo, Jack and I go to the Pork and Apple Festival in Clinton. We buy a gbunchh of turned wooden bowls. After we eat lunch we head back to their house. We pick up Jackfs mom and head for Champaign. I leave my Pendleton clothes at Karenfs Kloset to see if they want to try to resell any of them for me. Jack takes his mom for ice cream while I deal with my clothes. The Whilefs have a fish fry for us along with Tomfs sister, Mary, and her husband, Willie.
