Hanging Around the Old Home

09-30-02

Jack and I meet Donna LaMar at the bank in LeRoy and head for White Heath for a bike ride. Jack rides about 40 miles and Donna and I ride about 56. It was a nice day for a ride except for the strong south wind and that we got lost. But so did everybody else. We took Tom and Jo out to eat that night at Ned Kellyfs as a thank-you for them letting us stay with them..

We empty everything in the van into the Whilefs garage so we can move our junk from the largest storage unit to the smallest one. We visit his mom while we wait for the owner of the storage unit to show up. We go back to the Whilefs and load the van, drink a beer, take pics and head for the closest Holiday Inn Express that we can afford which is at Oglesby.

10-02-02 thru 10-04-02

We hang out at Michaelfs for the next three days. It is rather cold and rainy most of the time. I love watching and playing with Ava. I catch up on mail, laundry, cleaning and other odd jobs. We trade our 15-passenger van in for a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer extended body. We buy it at Rebbec in ElPaso IL. We feel we got a pretty good deal on it. We did look at a few in Bloomington in the severe wind and rain. After we get a counter-offer from ElPaso we decide to buy it from them because they want our van. We were supposed to be at Michaelfs for supper, but we didnft make it. We arrive there about 10pm.

10-05-02

We drive to my parents in Plano IL so we can attend my 40-year class reunion. It is a supper at the Remington Steak House in Plano. There are 35 present. My friends, Diane Meier Borino and Pat Doyle, are there. We visit in the bar afterwards until after11pm. Six of my classmates have passed away.

10-06-02

Karen, Joan, Joe and I ride 26 miles on the Fox River bike trail. We rode from Aurora to St. Charles. We were supposed to ride the Pumpkin Pie Ride in Ottawa, but the weather didnft look too promising so we decided against going. It turned out to be a beautiful day for a bike ride. We get a delicious ice cream cone at Oberweis Dairy afterwards. Joan, Al, Denise, Eric, Joe, Jack and I have pizza with Mom and Dad for supper at their house. Jack spent the day with Mom and Dad rather than going bicycling. We stay overnight with Mom and Dad.
