January 28: Murder

Today, January 28th, a teacher was murdered in Tochigi-ken (right next door to me). The incident occurred in Kuro----- (I forget the full name). The teacher was killed at school by one of her students. Apparently, the student came into class late, and the teacher asked him during class and after why he'd been late. The student was angry with her, so pulled out a 10 cm knife to scare her. She didn't act very scared, so he got mad and stabbed her 7 times. The boy was ichi-nen-sei (1st grade) of junior high, thus 13 years old!

This school must have a different student make-up than mine. I can't imagine any of my kids doing something like that. Everyone one of my ichi nen are so innocent, and act so young. They are still into Pikachu (the cartoon character that caused "epilepsy" during cartoon episode). Even my 3 nen sei kids act much younger than they are. It was very shocking.

That's it for the news bit. Speaking of school, there was a tiff at school concerning the kocho-sensei (principal). During the monthly teachers' meeting, the word "communication" was brought up. That was followed by one of the teachers speaking with raised voice to kocho, and kocho reciprocating. Apparently, the teachers feel he doesn't communicate and interact enough with his fellow co-workers. Well, that conversation did worlds of good. He has been communicating with everyone in the office.
