A Wild Night

I left a party around 2:45 am and had an interesting ride home. There was broken glass in the tunnel under the train tracks, so I wonder what happened. Then further (or farther?) along the way I heard this aweful buzzing sound. Next thing I know there is line of motorcylces revving their puny engines as they zoomed by me. Following these 20 or so motorcycles were 2 cop cars with the sirens and lights going. It all seemed comical because the cycles weren't going that fast, and the cops didn't seem to be affecting the riders in the least. It looked more like a presidential procession than a chase.

I had a crappy night's sleep and made my was to Takasaki on the 7:44 train. I went on a tour of the city. It was pretty interesting. The day was beautiful and I managed to pick up gifts for some people. I even got to make a daruma doll (the little red men that are nothing but faces). It was a traumatic experience trying to draw a face on the thing. I like it better when I just buy the little red man and paint the eye. Anyway, I drew the face on my man and decided to "dedicate" it to being happy in Japan. So when I have reached my goal, I will paint the other eye.

So during this session I learned that there are many types of daruma dolls. Takasaki's are the most famous, and 80 of Japan's daruma are made in Takasaki.
