According to Mitsuo, the truck carrying the furnace was selling sweet potatoes. So the mystery has been solved. Though I still find it a bit strange. Though maybe hotdog carts look strange to other people.

I get the daily newspaper here, and sometimes the articles really disturb me. Yesterday there was an article that I didn't find uplifting. Prosecutors were seeking the death penalty for a 53-yr-old man who "beat his 43-year-old wife, 17-yr-old daughter and 10-yr-old son unconscious while they slept...He then doused the three in kerosene, setting them and the house on fire." This in itself is un-nerving, but it gets worse. Apparently the court decided to only give him a life sentence instead of the death penalty because the "presiding judge Satoru Sakai said, 'There is room for pity (toward the man), who was troubled with (problems) such as his son's disabilities.'" The man said he "killed his family because he has a mistress and could no longer deal with family life, strained be the fact that his son was disabled."

Come on! Marriage and family are a responsibility and commitment. If the man had killed his boss in such a manner, explaining that it was because he was overworked and stressed, I'm sure that the attitude of the judge would have been different. I guess there are a lot of people out there who view marriage and family a lot differently than I do. Feel free to express you comments or opinions to me about this issue, because I am interested.

That's all I can think of for now.
