Impressions of Djibouti: Sunday at the Beach

The Red Sea and some of the area around Djibouti is supposed to be great for scuba diving. There is an area in the Gulf of Tadjoura where you can dive with whales for a couple months each year. I missed that season, and I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars going out to see the desert and the salt lakes, so I settled on a half-day visit to Moucha Island. I don't do scuba diving, but I like snorkeling and there was a lot to see in the shallow waters around the beach. Not much to see in the photos below, but I do recommend a relaxing day here if you are in the area.

This is the main beach. There were only like 8-10 people here all day. All foreigners. And from the other side. That is the dock. Just a simple cafe and restrooms. There are rooms if you want to stay overnight.

And that was it... nice morning. Quiet out here. Back to the safety of the Kempinsky Hotel.
